What do the trainings consist of?

An Ultra isn't about speed, it's about training consistency. You must do a good amount of weekly kilometers and time on your feet. Although during the week (Monday to Friday) you have to do runs of between 7 and 10kms at least two days a week, the most important thing are the long runs with elevation on the weekends that should go up as the season approaches. race. On the page we will put a suggested training plan. This training must be complemented with strength in the body doing planks (3 x 30 seconds), sit-ups (3 x 20), squats (3 x 20) at least 2 days a week.

ABOUT THE RACE

Recommended equipment

It's on the page. Backpack or vest with at least 2 liters of water capacity and pockets for other things. See Essential Equipment

2

How are they going to stop people running at night?

The race will be marked and has parts of trails but much longer parts of dirt road. We have organized the starting times so that most of the runners do the trails during the day and most of the night is on tosca / dirt road where it is much easier to run and the night makes the run cooler. However, as in almost all Ultras, part of the trail will have to be covered at night, so we recommend watching or following other runners, having the route on the clock and keeping an eye on the race signs. We will have explanatory Zoom and at least one practice run for you to use your watch. In the night part we will also have the closest stations to each other, approximately every 11kms.

3

What if I can't continue?

It is important to carry out a responsible training to be able to face and enjoy the selected distance, however, mishaps can occur. In this case, you must get to the nearest Aid Station where the next steps will be indicated. In each Aid Station there will be personnel with means of transport and communication but it must be clear that there are many runners and you cannot leave the station until the last one passes, so if you cannot continue, we recommend first resting, if you have enough time maybe you recover and want to continue in the race, if you don't want to continue, you must wait for the station to close and we can take you to the main station. Remember that transportation is only offered from the Tres Hermanas station to Panama. From El Valle you must have your own means.

4

Can I run with music?

Yes, however it is not recommended, especially at night. In an ultra you enjoy nature and you have to be aware of your surroundings and other runners.

5

Is it advisable to change clothes and shoes?

This depends on each broker. There is part of the route that crosses several rivers and sweaty clothes at night can get cold. As a general rule, if nothing bothers you, don't change it, but if something makes you uncomfortable, change it. In any case, prepare your change bags (drop bags) to send to the Tres Hermanas and El Valle stations in case you want to change something, you have the option. DO NOT use new or untested gear in the race.
