3
How are they going to handle people running at night?
The race will be marked and has parts of trails but much longer parts of dirt road. We have organized the starting times so that most of the runners do the trails during the day and most of the night is on tosca / dirt road where it is much easier to run and the night makes the run cooler. However, as in almost all Ultras, part of the trail will have to be covered at night, so we recommend watching or following other runners, having the route on the clock and keeping an eye on the race signs. We will have explanatory Zoom and at least one practice run for you to use your watch. In the night part we will also have the closest stations to each other, approximately every 11kms.
4
What if I can't continue?
It is important to carry out a responsible training to be able to face and enjoy the selected distance, however, mishaps can occur. In this case, you must get to the nearest Aid Station where the next steps will be indicated. In each Aid Station there will be personnel with means of transport and communication but it must be clear that there are many runners and you cannot leave the station until the last one passes, so if you cannot continue, we recommend first resting, if you have enough time maybe you recover and want to continue in the race, if you don't want to continue, you must wait for the station to close and we can take you to the main station. Remember that transportation is only offered from the Tres Hermanas station to Panama. From El Valle you must have your own means.
5
Is it advisable to change clothes and shoes?
This depends on each runner. There are parts of the route where you cross several rivers and sweaty clothes at night can make you cold. As a general rule, if nothing bothers you, don't change it, but if something makes you uncomfortable, change it. In any case, prepare your change bags (drop bags) to send to the Tres Hermanas and El Valle stations so that if you want to change something, you have the option.
6
Can runners leave a small backpack at the start?
160K and 105K runners can leave a backpack at the start which will be returned to them at the finish line.
7
How does the pacer work?
You can use pacer for the 105k and 160k distances, and you are allowed to enter from the El Valle – Casa Bennet station. You must be registered in advance.
8
What do pacers do?
They are the runner's companions; they do not have to carry the equipment, they simply support and accompany him during part of the race.
9
What are the cutoff times for the different distances?
For 55k there is no cut-off time at the stations, you have 12 hours to complete the race and become an official finisher of El Reto del Indio.
For 105k there is a cut-off time at El Valle station, you have 14 hours to get to El Valle – Casa Bennett station and you must complete the race in no more than 24 hours to be an official finisher of El Reto del Indio.
For 160k the cut-off time at the 3 Hermanas – HHH station is 14 hours and then at El Valle – Casa Bennet the cut-off time is 28 hours, you have 38 hours to complete the race, have your buckle and be an official finisher of El Reto del Indio.
